The brief called for a pavilion-like café design, that catered for mobility devices, the scooter in particular. This will be situated on the UQ campus in which a site will be assigned to each one of us.

The purpose of this project, I believe, was to develop our skills in resolving design problems with consideration of a given site and its existing surrounding environment and developments. This is an opportunity for us to apply what we have learned from previous projects (Framing space and folding space) as well as a chance to propose additional areas that we think will stimulate more interest of the people.

My site is situated in front of Steel building along the staff house road and facing the UQ lakes. The photo is showing the frontage of my site from a view near the opposite lakes.

I commenced with a site analysis, jotting as much information about the site and also noting the potentials and possibilities. Subsequently followed by schematic diagrams of the spaces required for our structure. 1. Structure 2. Grass 3. Pathwalk stairs 4. Existing retaining wall 5. Existing bush 6. Existing landscaping with tall trees.
My site is elevated and sloping which ,at firts, the main inspiration of my concept. I started with a complex andulating slice form then simplified into strips of rolling hills down to one.
After I simplified my concept, I applied the pump track anatomy, which every bends and curves has a different function or purpose. This idea lead me to think different possible function that can be applied on every curved of this single strip structure
I tested the concept by a paper model study and made a collage of the model with the site. PLeased with the results, I carried on merging my schematic diagram with my concept.
